Urinalysis & Urine culture

Materials you will need:

• Sterile urine collection container (available at pharmacies)
• Mild soap
• Clean towel

Collection procedure:

1. Timing: Collect the first urine of the morning
2. Cleaning: Wash the area with mild soap and dry with a clean towel
3. Collection: Collect a midstream sample (half a container is sufficient)
4. Delivery: Submit the sample within 2 hours or store it in the refrigerator at 4°C

24-Hour Urine collection

Materials you will need:

Numbered collection container (available at pharmacies)

Collection procedure:

• Start: Discard the first morning urine in the toilet
• Collection: From that point onward, collect all urine for the next 24 hours
• End: Finish the collection the next day at the same time you started
• Storage: Keep the container refrigerated throughout the collection period
