HOW TO ADMIT YOUR CHILD TO THE METROPOLITAN PEDIATRIC DEPARTMENT

Your pediatrician is the most suitable person to decide whether your child needs to be admitted to hospital or not. When the decision has been made and you have been referred to hospital, the next step is easy. You will need to arrive at the Pediatric Department Outpatient Clinic, where you will enjoy all the services provided by our auxiliary, nursing and scientific staff.

If your pediatrician is away and your child suffers an unexpected or emergency health problem, you can come to the Emergency Room of the Metropolitan Hospital Pediatric Department. The problem will be addressed and your pediatrician will be notified of the problem and the results of the lab tests that will be performed.

When your child is admitted, your pediatrician is notified once again about the admission and the course of the disease. Upon discharge, you will receive written instructions and a medical note with copies of all the tests that were performed. The medical note will also be sent to your pediatrician by email.

HOW YOUR CHILD CAN UNDERGO LAB WORK

Further to your pediatrician’s referral for lab work, tests can be performed at the Metropolitan Hospital Pediatric Department. Our staff, which is experienced in dealing with children, ensures that imaging examinations (X-rays, ultrasounds, CT scans, MRI scans, scintigraphies, collection of blood, urine and bodily fluids) are performed conveniently and are hassle-free.

HOW YOUR CHILD CAN BE EXAMINED BY A SPECIALIST

In collaboration with your pediatrician, you can schedule an appointment for your child to be examined by a specialist at the Metropolitan Hospital Pediatric Department (Pediatric Allergist, Pediatric Infectious Disease Specialist, Pediatric Endocrinologist, Pediatric Gastroenterologist, Pediatric Neurologist, Pediatric Cardiologist, Pediatric Hematologist/Oncologist, Pediatric Rheumatologist, Pediatric Surgeon, Pediatric Ophthalmologist, Pediatric ENT Specialist, Pediatric Dermatologist, Developmental Specialist, Pediatric Psychiatrist, Pediatrician specializing is dyslipidemia in children and adolescents, etc.)

HOW YOUR CHILD CAN COME TO THE METROPOLITAN HOSPITAL PEDIATRIC DEPARTMENT

The Metropolitan Hospital Pediatric Department, the Emergency Room and the labs are on call 24/7 to attend to any problem that may arise in your child or any problem referred by your pediatrician.

OUTPATIENT CLINIC

Upon arrival at the Metropolitan Hospital Emergency Room, the young patient’s condition will be assessed. If it is an emergency, the child may need to be treated in the ER. The norm, however, is for you to be directed to the 4th floor, where the Metropolitan Hospital Pediatric Department and the Pediatric Clinics are housed (emergency and follow-up after appointment). You will come across modern areas pursuant to European standards and will be greeted by qualified and polite staff.

ACCOMMODATION

Young patients are primarily accommodated in single or double rooms, while there is also a four-bed room. All rooms are equipped with state-of-the-art devices that are necessary for excellent inpatient stay, and all rooms have air conditioning and a personal TV.

A CHILD’S PROPER CARE IS DEMANDING

A child’s dietary plan is demanding and must abide by rules depending on the illness for which the child is hospitalized. Dietitians stand by the Metropolitan Hospital Pediatric Department staff and offer optimal care.

The medical staff are highly qualified, polite and able to offer psychological support to both the child and the parents. If required, psychologists and/or psychiatrists assume the management of special problems.

LABORATORY TESTS FOR CHILDREN

Further to your pediatrician’s referral, you can bring your child to the Metropolitan Hospital Pediatric Department for blood, urine or other bodily fluid tests. Experienced nursing and auxiliary staff will greet you and assist you in a patient and polite manner.
