Metropolitan Hospital runs a Coronary Care Unit (CCU), with a capacity of 6 beds, in a perfectly organized setting. The CCU is fully equipped with the latest technology and staffed by employees with long experience in ICUs. It has a life support system (ventilator) for respiratory problems, as well as systems for the heart, such as intra-aortic pump, external pacemakers, etc.
The medical history of patients, including all the exams, are recorded electronically. The Unit has very high positive outcome rates, among the best in Greece, and a very low average hospitalization rate.
So far, around 11,000 patients have been hospitalized in the CCU from Europe, the USA, etc. for various acute and complex cardiac events, such as myocardial infarction, heart failure, unstable angina, pulmonary edema, myocarditis, pericarditis, valvulopathies, arrhythmias, as well as other very rare conditions.
