Dr. N. Stratigis was educated in the Medical School of Athens, graduating with honors in June 1975. He became a Cardiology specialist in 1983. In 1989, he was awarded the title of Doctor of the Medical School of Athens.
For the past 25 years, his main focus is in the field of Interventional Cardiology, for which he was trained in St. George’s Hospital in London, UK and Gusthuisberg Univ. Hospital in Leuven, Belgium. Dr. Stratigis has worked in the Greek National Healthcare system for 18 years and in 2003, he was appointed Director of Cardiology Department in the Metropolitan Hospital.
He is Fellow of the European Society of Cardiology (ESC), a member of the Interventional Cardiology Working Group of ESC, and a member of the Hemodynamics and Interventional Cardiology Working Group of the Hellenic Cardiological Society (HCS).
Dr. Stratigis has 10 publications in Greek and international medical press and over 50 announcements in Greek and International Conferences. He is also a translator of international medical literature to Greek. Pioneering in Greece, he adopted radial access as his main method of catheterization of the coronary arteries, in 1997. This experience has been presented in various scientific fora and most recently in the textbook “Interventional Cardiology", published by the HCS in 2014.
