Dr. Melidonis Andreas was born at Lixouri, Kefalonia.
He is a graduate of Varvakeio High School. He studied at Athens Medical School where he received his degree with "Excellent".
He received his specialization in Pathology in 1984.
He obtained the specialty of Gastroenterology in 1986.
He specialized in Diabetology in 1988.
He obtained his PhD from the Medical School of the University of Athens in 1994.
He was the Coordinating Director of the First Pathology Clinic and the Diabetes Centre, the Obesity and Metabolism Centre of Tzaneio Hospital from 2007 to 2019. Since November 2019, he has been the Coordinating Director at the Diabetes and Cardiometabolic Centrer at Metropolitan Hospital.
He repeatedly served as President of the Hellenic Diabetes Association (2000, 2005, 2013) as well as President of working groups of the Diabetes Society and Secretary General of Hellenic Pathology Association.
He also served as Secretary General of Union of Hospital Doctors of Athens-Piraeus as well as Vice President of the Piraeus Medical Association.
More than 300 of his papers have been presented at Panhellenic Congress, while 200 of his papers have been presented at International Congress. 52 of his papers have been awarded at medical congress. 103 of his studies have been published in prestigious international journals.
He has written 10 books of medical content.
He has organized numerous scientific events and seminars, while the 4-day congress that he has been organizing every year for the last 25 years, with the subject of Metabolism Seminars, is an important educational and scientific initiative with national recognition in the medical field.
