Constantinos Anagnostopoulos MD, PhD, FRCP, FRCR, FESC, Head of the PET/CT unit in the Metropolitan Hospital, Athens, is a Nuclear Medicine Physician with expertise in cardiovascular imaging and PET/CT.

He received his medical degree (M.D) from the Medical School, Aristotle University, Thessaloniki, Greece, following which he continued with his postgraduate training in Nuclear Medicine-Nuclear Cardiology in London, at the Royal Marsden and Royal Brompton Hospitals, receiving a Certificate of Completion of Specialist Training (CCST) in Nuclear Medicine, England, UK. He obtained his PhD on advanced cardiac Imaging following successful completion of a research program between National, Heart and Lung Institute, Imperial College, London, UK and Medical School, National Kapodistrian University of Athens, Greece. He was a Visiting Scholar at Brigham and Women's Hospital, Harvard Medical School, where he gained clinical and research experience in PET/CT. He has received Fellowships from the European Society of Cardiology (FESC), as well as from the Royal Colleges of Radiologists and Physicians (FRCR, FRCP, London).

Dr. Anagnostopoulos held previously Senior Clinical and Academic posts at the Royal Brompton Hospital-Imperial College, as well as the Barts & The London, School of Medicine, London, UK. He has held several administrative posts in international and National professional societies, serving as President of the British Nuclear Cardiology Society, President of the working group of non-invasive imaging of the Hellenic Cardiological Society, Councillor of British Nuclear Medicine Society, Councillor of the British Cardiovascular Society, Councillor of the European Association of Cardiovascular Imaging (EACVI), European Society of Cardiology, as well as member of its Research and Innovation Committee and the Education Committee.

He is editor of the international book “Non-invasive Imaging of Myocardial Ischaemia” (Springer Verlag) and author or co-author of many book chapters related to cardiovascular imaging. He is a member of the editorial board of the Journal of Nuclear Cardiology. He has been Guest Editor of the HEART, member of the editorial board of the European Journal of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging and Associate Editor of Frontiers in Cardiovascular Medicine.

The focus of his research activities is on radionuclide and hybrid imaging with an emphasis on its impact in diagnostic strategies and its role as an interface between pathophysiology and clinical medicine in the areas of cardiovascular, inflammatory diseases and cancer. He is chairman and invited lecturer in numerous national and international congresses including those of the European Society of Cardiology, European Association of Nuclear Medicine and International Congress in Nuclear Cardiology and Cardiac CT. He is Chair and member of international guideline committees and has published extensively original research papers in prestigious journals including British Medical Journal, Radiology, Journal of the American College of Cardiology-Cardiovascular Imaging, Journal of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging, European Journal of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging, European Heart Journal–Cardiovascular Imaging, Circulation-Cardiovascular Imaging, Circulation, European Heart Journal and Journal of the American College of Cardiology.
