Associate Director, 2nd Oncology Clinic, Metropolitan Hospital
Dr. Eleni Galani studied at the Medical School of the University of Patras from September 1988 to July 1994, graduating with distinction and receiving a scholarship from the State Scholarships Foundation (IKY) for her academic performance. She began her residency in Internal Medicine at the General Oncology Hospital “Agioi Anargyroi” and completed it at the Therapeutic Clinical Hospital "Alexandra". In 2001, she obtained her specialty in Internal Medicine after successfully passing the examinations. During her residency, she also attended and completed the postgraduate program in Oncology at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA), while simultaneously working on her PhD in Oncology, at the same institution.
From 2001 to 2004, Dr. Galani held a paid position as Senior Clinical Fellow at Guy’s and St. Thomas’ Hospital in London, where she specialized in Medical Oncology. She was awarded fellowships from both the European Society of Medical Oncology (ESMO) and the Hellenic Society of Medical Oncology (HeSMO). In 2005, she became certified in Medical Oncology. Since then, she has worked as a Medical Oncologist, initially at Henry Dunant Hospital (2005–2007) and, from 2007 to the present, at Metropolitan Hospital in Athens.
Dr. Galani is the author of more than 50 original publications in peer-reviewed medical journals and has presented over 100 papers at Greek and international conferences. She has been invited as a speaker and has chaired sessions at numerous medical meetings. In addition, she is a contributing and principal author in national and international oncology textbooks.
Dr. Eleni Galani is a member of the following scientific committees: General Medical Council (UK, registration number 6032207), Medical Association of Athens (registration number 055811), Hellenic society of Medical Oncology (HeSMO), American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO), Medical Oncology Physicians Society of Greece (EOPE), Tumor Markers Society (General Secretary).
