One Day Clinic (ODC)
At Metropolitan Hospital, the majority of oral and dental reconstructions are performed in the One-Day Clinic.
- The surgical stage of the treatment plan is completed (periodontal surgery, tooth extractions, tooth implantations and maxillofacial surgeries).
- Temporary, fully functional and aesthetic dentures are fitted for about 3 months until completion of the dental implant osseointegration stage, at which time the final prosthesis stage is completed.
Note that treatment in the One-Day Clinic is done under general anesthesia or intravenous sedation (twilight sleep), in special surgical beds.
The benefits of the One-Day Clinic are obvious:
- Patients complete 90% of their treatment plan over a shorter period of time.
- They are immediately provided with temporary dentures. So they can continue with their professional and social activities from the very next day.
- It is completely painless and they overcome all their psychological obstacles of fear and collaboration with the dentist.
DENTISTRY CLINIC / DENTAL LAB
As part of applying contemporary treatment methods, Metropolitan Hospital has developed a modern and well-equipped Dental Lab within the Dentistry Clinic.
The fact that the Lab works hand-in-hand with the Clinic, maximizes the therapeutic and aesthetic result, while minimizing waiting periods. The Lab is staffed by fully trained dental technicians.
FACIAL COSMETICS AND COSMETIC DENTISTRY
In collaboration with the Metropolitan Hospital surgical, plastic surgery and cosmetics departments, therapeutic cosmetic reconstructions of the mouth and face are performed in the One-Day Clinic. Our Clinic, together with its distinguished plastic surgeons, worked with the US production Extreme Make Over and presented the participants’ impressive results in TV episodes shown on Mega Channel.
PERIODONTOLOGY AND IMPLANTS
Metropolitan Hospital, which operates under contemporary medical and dental science guidelines, moved forward with the establishment of a Periodontal, Implant and Dental Prosthesis Clinic, to satisfy its patient needs and to offer scientifically sound services under excellent conditions. Our Clinic addresses all dental cases, while providing patients with detailed information about prevention guidelines and methods. They follow lifelong dental prevention programs, so that they do not experience poor oral hygiene in the future.
The Periodontal, Implant and Dental Prosthesis Clinic consists of scientific staff with proper training and experience in the prevention and treatment of dental diseases.
It also runs a Dental Lab, so that patients are immediately attended to during their treatment, without encountering issues relating to absence from their job or other activity.
Note that tooth loss is primarily caused by tooth decay and gum diseases, such as gingivitis and periodontitis. These two diseases may be prevented when patients know what to do and visit their dentist regularly for early diagnosis of initial symptoms.
At this new Clinic, proper scientific treatment procedures can be performed, which will allow you to retain affected teeth for longer or for life.
Your questions answered
- Periodontology: It is a dentistry specialty that focuses on the prevention and treatment of gum diseases. Periodontology is concerned with the prevention of bacterial infections of the gums and the bone surrounding the teeth (peridontal), the treatment of these diseases and good oral health.
- Implants: Osseointegrated implants are used to replace lost teeth in totally or partially edentulous (toothless) patients. Scientific techniques are applied and contribute to improving the function of the stomatognathic system, i.e. chewing, speech and aesthetic reconstruction.
Prosthodontics
Given that most patients have lost a good number of teeth due to gum disease, they end up replacing them either with complete or partial dentures, with all the problems that these entail in terms of speech, chewing, aesthetic appearance, etc.
Aided by modern periodontology and implants, patients can receive sound therapeutic treatment with the insertion of fixed prosthodontics, resulting in the immediate improvement of their appearance, speech and chewing function.
The Dentistry Clinic at Metropolitan Hospital also offers:
- Complete dental therapy to all patients that so desire.
- In collaboration with other Metropolitan Hospital departments, patients with another disease (allergies, heart disease, diabetes, neoplastic diseases, etc.) can also be treated.
- Metropolitan Hospital runs a One-Day Clinic for dental cases as well. Under general anesthesia, this Clinic addresses the needs of patients who find it difficult to approach or collaborate with the dentist, as well as patients with a heavy professional workload or social activities that require treatment time to be minimized.
Metropolitan Hospital addresses all dentists that run private practices, offering them and their patients scientific assistance/cover that ensures safe treatment.
PREVENTIVE AND CONVENTIONAL PROGRAM
Upon completing their treatment, the Clinic patients are entered in an electronic long-term follow-up program to ensure that their therapeutic results last for a long time. The term of the follow-up program, which shall depend on the patient’s needs, is determined by the treating physician.
Moreover, all modern family programs for the prevention of dental diseases are applied, so that parents may receive complete oral care at minimal expense.
