Prediabetes, a pre-disease condition that precedes diabetes, is estimated to affect 25%–30% of the population and is associated with an increased cardiovascular risk as well as a higher likelihood of developing chronic diabetes-related complications.
As a Diabetology Center, we provide medical services for the detection and identification of individuals with prediabetes among all patients admitted to Metropolitan Hospital, those attending routine outpatient clinics, and all hospital staff. Screening is conducted using a validated international questionnaire (FindRisc). Individuals identified as high-risk for prediabetes undergo a complementary examination at the Prediabetes Clinic (free of charge). They receive nutritional counseling and preventive medical support aimed at managing this pre-disease condition and preventing the onset of Type 2 Diabetes.
