Constantinos Anagnostopoulos M.D, Ph.D, FRCP, FRCR, FESC is Director, Nuclear Medicine Physician, at the department of Nuclear Medicine, Metropolitan hospital.
Graduate and post - graduate Training:
Constantinos Anagnostopoulos has received his Medical Degree from the Medical School of the Aristotle University in Thessaloniki. He has completed his main specialty training in Nuclear Medicine at the Theageneio Oncological Hospital in Thessaloniki and his advanced training in applications of Nuclear Medicine in Oncology and Cardiovascular Medicine at the Royal Marsden & Royal Brompton Hospitals, England, UK. He has received his PhD from the University of Athens and has been a Visiting Scholar at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Harvard Medical School where he obtained clinical and research experience in PET/CT.
Previous professional experience at senior positions abroad:
He held posts as a) Head of Nuclear Medicine-PET/CT Department and Senior Lecturer at Barts & The London School of Medicine (2008-2010) and b) Consultant in Nuclear Medicine at the Royal Brompton and the Chelsea & Westminster hospitals and Honorary Senior Lecturer at the National Heart and Lung Institute, Imperial College, London (1998-2008).
Teaching - training and research:
Dr Anagnostopoulos is member of the Education-Certification and Accreditation Committee, of the European Association of Cardiovascular imaging and Chairman of the working group of non-invasive imaging of the Hellenic Cardiological Society. He has been organiser or co-organiser of many imaging events, has strong teaching and training experience at national and international level and he is principle investigator or co-investigator in a number of studies and research programmes.
Published work:
Constantinos Anagnostopoulos is an author/co-author of many chapters of international books and numerous peer reviewed publications in prestigious journals including the Journal of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging, European Journal of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging, European Heart Journal–Cardiovascular Imaging, Circulation- Cardiovascular Imaging, Journal of the American College of Cardiology-Cardiovascular Imaging, Circulation, Journal of the American College of Cardiology and British Medical Journal. He has been Chair and Editor of the UK guidelines for Myocardial Perfusion Imaging (2004) and Core Member of the writing group of ESC/EANM Guidelines on a) Myocardial Perfusion Imaging (2005 and 2015) and b) Radionuclide Imaging of Cardiac Function (2008).
Editorial Activities:
He is the Principle editor of the book “Non-invasive Imaging of myocardial Ischaemia” (Springer Verlag) as well as guest editor of the HEART journal. He is an Editorial Board Member of the European Journal of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging, Journal of Nuclear Cardiology, Nuclear Medicine Communications, Associate Editor of the Frontiers in Cardiovascular Medicine and Editor in Chief of the Hellenic Journal of Nuclear medicine. He is an Advisory Committee Member of many journals including the American Journal of Cardiology, International Journal of Cardiology, Heart, European Heart Journal- Cardiovascular Imaging, Circulation- Cardiovascular Imaging, Metabolism, Journal of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging and European Heart Journal.
Awards:
He has been awarded the Fellowship of the European Society of Cardiology (FESC, 2000) and also the Fellowships of the Royal College of Radiologists (FRCR, 2003) and the Royal College of Physicians (FRCP, 2006), UK.
Administrative Posts:
Constantinos Anagnostopoulos has been President of the British Society of Nuclear Cardiology (2002 & 2003), Council member both of the British Cardiovascular Society and British Nuclear Medicine Society (2002&2003) and also of the European Society of Cardiology working group in Nuclear Cardiology and Cardiac CT (2002 - 2010). He has been advisor to the Department of Health, UK (2002 - 2004) and served as president of the Hellenic Medical Society, UK and treasurer of the world Hellenic Biomedical Association (2006 - 2008).
