Associate Director, 2nd Oncology Clinic, Metropolitan Hospital
Dr. Eleni Galani studied at the Medical School of the University of Patra from September 1988 to July 1994. She received a scholarship from the State Scholarships Foundation (IKY) for her performance during her studies. She began her training in Internal Medicine at the Agioi Anargyroi General Cancer Hospital and completed her training at the Therapeutic Clinic of Alexandra Hospital. In 2001 she passed the exams and received her specialty certification in Internal Medicine. During the time of her specialty training, she attended and completed with distinction a postgraduate program in Oncology, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. At the same time, she worked on and completed with distinction her doctoral dissertation at the Department of Clinical Biochemistry, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens.
From 2001 to 2004, she worked at a paid position as a Senior Clinical Fellow at Guy’s and St. Thomas’ Hospital, London, Great Britain, where she specialized in Medical Oncology. For her postgraduate training abroad, she received a scholarship from the Hellenic Society of Medical Oncology. In addition, she received a scholarship for developing research work from the European Society of Medical Oncology. In 2005, she passed the exams and received a second specialty certification, in Medical Oncology. Since 2005, she has been working as a Medical Oncologist, initially at Henry Dunant Hospital and since 2007 at Metropolitan Hospital.
Dr. Eleni Galani is an author of more than 400 original papers in medical scientific journals, and has more than 100 conference papers in international and Greek conferences. She has been invited as a speaker and has also chaired several medical congresses. She is also a main author in international and Greek oncology books.
