Every family that has pre-school-age children wonders whether their child will be able to follow and greatly benefit from the educational system. Even when a child is quite young, a parent wonders whether their child’s development, both physically and mentally, is normal. Your pediatrician will give you answers to these questions. However, it is not rare for your pediatrician to consult a developmental specialist, either because they see something they do not like, or simply because they feel it is necessary now that your child is at school age.
When you arrive at the Developmental Pediatrics Clinic after being referred by your pediatrician, you will need to dedicate some time for an examination. The specialist will talk with you and with the child and some simple tests will be done with drawings and images; your child will also be asked to complete, recognize or answer some questions. On leaving the Clinic, we will have a comprehensive understanding of your child’s skills. You may, on the rare occasion, be asked to repeat the examination after a few months.
